Arrival and Exploration (August 16 To 18)- A Colorful Adventure in Ho Chi Minh City
I was so excited when I arrived in Ho Chi Minh City! It’s a really busy and fun place. There are old buildings from when the French ruled, and lots of interesting places to see. This city is a bustling metropolis that’s full of life and excitement.
I spent my first two days exploring the city’s many historical sites and cultural attractions. One of the highlights was the War Remnants Museum, which offers a sobering look at the Vietnam War. I also visited the stunning Notre Dame Cathedral and the historic Central Post Office.
I loved wandering through the bustling streets of the city’s old quarter. The narrow lanes are lined with colorful shops, street vendors, and traditional houses. I also enjoyed sampling the delicious local cuisine, from savory pho to sweet bánh mì.
Whether you’re a history buff, a foodie, or simply looking for a vibrant city to explore, Ho Chi Minh City has something for everyone. I tried some delicious street food too! It was a great way to experience the local culture.
Hanoi (August 18 To 20)
Exploring Vietnam’s Cultural Heartland: Dien Bien and Cua Dong
Dien Bien and Cua Dong are two beautiful places in Vietnam. They show us the real Vietnam, with its rich history and culture. I had a wonderful time exploring these places. I saw how the local people live, visited colorful markets full of fresh food and handmade goods, and tasted delicious street food. It was a great way to experience the real Vietnam, away from the big cities.
St. Joseph’s Cathedral: A Ho Chi Minh City Gem
St. Joseph’s Cathedral is a must-see landmark in Ho Chi Minh City. This historic church boasts stunning French Gothic architecture and a serene atmosphere. That makes it the perfect place to relax and appreciate the unique blend of local and Western influences.
Sip and See: Coffee at Ho Chi Minh Museum
Vietnam is known for its delicious coffee. So I couldn’t miss the chance to enjoy a cup next to the Ho Chi Minh Museum. The museum area is a peaceful place to relax and admire the view. If you visit the Ho Chi Minh Museum, take a break to enjoy a cup of coffee.
Discover the Temple of Literature: A Glimpse into Vietnam’s Intellectual Past
The Temple of Literature is a must-visit for history and culture enthusiasts. This is one of my favorite places. This ancient temple, with its stunning architecture and serene atmosphere. Also, offers a captivating glimpse into Vietnam’s rich intellectual heritage. Walking around, I was mesmerized by the intricate carvings and peaceful ambiance. That gave me a glimpse into the country’s intellectual heritage.
Yen Phu: A Serene Retreat in Ho Chi Minh City
Discover the tranquil beauty of Yen Phu, a hidden gem in Ho Chi Minh City. This serene location offers a peaceful escape from the bustling city streets. I enjoyed the quiet moments by the water and took in the scenic charm of this idyllic spot.
Train Coffee Experience: A Unique Ho Chi Minh Cafe
Did you know you can enjoy a cup of coffee while watching trains whiz by? Ho Chi Minh City’s Train Street Cafe offers a unique and memorable experience. This popular local spot is perfect for those seeking a bit of novelty.
Exploring Da Nang and Parasailing Attempt (August 20 To 23)
From Hanoi City, I took a business class flight to Da Nang. This area is known for its beautiful beaches, luxury hotels, and thrilling outdoor activities. After arriving at Da Nang, I checked into a 5-star hotel. Then I started to explore more of Vietnam’s natural beauty and adventures.
1. Parasailing Adventure at Ban Dao Son Tra: A Weather-Related Setback
I was excited to embark on a $75 parasailing adventure in the beautiful Ban Dao Son Tra. The idea of soaring above the breathtaking coastline, feeling the wind in my hair, was truly thrilling. However, due to unpredictable weather conditions, the session had to be canceled for safety reasons. While it was disappointing to miss out on this exciting experience. But I understand and appreciate the decision to prioritize safety. Thankfully, I received a full refund for the canceled session.
2. Unexpected Health Hiccup and Speedy Recovery
Later that evening, I started feeling under the weather. As a precautionary measure, I visited a nearby hospital. The medical staff was exceptionally kind and efficient, providing top-notch care. Thankfully, I recovered quickly and was able to continue my journey. This experience further solidified my impression of the warm and supportive local community. Also, make me even more appreciative of their kindness and assistance.
Return to Ho Chi Minh City and Departure (August 23-26)
My Vietnamese adventure ended with a comfortable business class flight back to Ho Chi Minh City. As I soared above the clouds, I couldn’t help but reflect on the incredible experiences I had gained. Every moment was filled with wonder and excitement. The warm hospitality of the Vietnamese people, the delicious cuisine, and the breathtaking landscapes left a lasting impression on me.
As I boarded the ferry on August 26th, I carried with me countless memories and a deep appreciation for the Vietnamese people and their rich culture. Vietnam will forever hold a special place in my heart. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to return and explore more of this fascinating country.
